Winter Is Coming!
The seasons are rapidly changing here in the Balkans. Regardless of where I am in the world, every year around this time I find myself feeling down. It’s a pattern I’ve come to notice so I pretend that it doesn’t catch me off guard, but it always does. One day I’m happy-go-lucky and the next I’m freaking out about what to do with my life! This tends to happen regardless of where I’m living, what I’m doing for work, and who I’m around. It’s a fall thing. It’s seems a bit more exaggerated this year with many factors coming in to play. The most obvious factor is not having a plan as winter approaches! Winter is coming!
We are currently in Zabljak, Montenegro. We’ve been here since Wednesday. Again, as it’s been rainy and cold, we hunkered down and rented a little apartment here for 3 weeks. This will hopefully give us some time to sort out our next move. Still no bites in the international teaching job hunt, but I guess we have to give it some time. It’s not exactly the best time of year to be searching for a teaching job! One thing that I have decided to pursue in recent days is my Master’s Degree. Yup! I’m a lifelong learner and I figure getting a Master’s in Science for grades 5-9 will open up many more teaching opportunities in the U.S. and abroad. I’ve enrolled at Western Governors University (WGU), where I earned my BA from. I love online learning! If all goes well (financial aid wise) I’ll be starting December 1st! Yippee! While starting school doesn’t necessarily help with the job search or making a plan, it will at least be something that is for the better in the long run. I have the time for it, so now’s the time!
While we have been here, it’s been quite rainy. We were finally able to get out for a little hike today. There may be some BASE jumping and speedflying in our near future here! Hopefully the rain and wind holds off so we can have some fun! That’s all for now! Thanks for reading!
